Washing Instructions

Down

Down is a natural product and requires special care in order to maintain its lofting properties and thermal performance. In general, down jackets should be washed as infrequently as possible, as the mechanical action of a washing machine can cause down to stress and break.

There is also a risk of down clumping due to improper washing. If the surface of the garment is dirty, rubbing with a soft, damp cloth or washing under running water is usually sufficient.

However, if machine washing is necessary, please note the following:

Wash the jacket on the delicate wash cycle at 30°C with down detergent or hair shampoo (that does NOT contain silicone or oils). Do not use a wash-in reproofing product or fabric softener as these agents can clog the down and the breathable membrane of the garment. A second rinse and spin cycle is recommended to remove all detergent residue.

Dry the jacket in a tumble dryer on a gentle heat with three to four tennis balls in the drum, or lay the garment on a drying rack and shake regularly. The jacket must not be dried in the blazing sun, as this can damage the down.

Laundered in this manner, the down will regain its full lofting capability after washing and will continue to offer the desired insulation.

Softshell/Hardshell

Lightly soiled clothing can be cleaned by washing the soiled area under running water or by rubbing the area with a soft, damp cloth.

However, if machine washing is necessary, please note the following:

Before washing, fasten all zips, press studs and buttons, and turn the garment inside out. For 3in1 jackets, the inner and outer jackets must be zipped apart.

Choose the 30°C delicate cycle of your machine and use a special detergent for sports and outdoor clothing. Do not use a wash-in reproofing product or fabric softener as these agents can clog the breathable membrane of the garment. Do not put the garment in the tumble dryer.

For reproofing the product, use a PFC-free spray after every fifth wash, e.g., TOKO ECO.

Clothing made from wool or with a wool content

Wool is a natural fibre with specific properties and requires special care. Generally, clothing made from pure wool requires less frequent washing, because wool is naturally odour neutralising and dirt repellent. Hanging the garment in the fresh air is usually sufficient to freshen it up.

However, if washing is necessary, please note the following:

Clothing made entirely of wool or with a wool content will become pilled and/or shrink if it is washed incorrectly.

Therefore, garments containing wool should only be washed with a special wool detergent, either by hand or on a wool wash cycle in a washing machine. The use of a net washing bag is recommended to prevent damage to fine knitwear. The water temperature used for washing clothing with a wool content must not exceed 30°C.

Do not soak the garment for a long time. Do not rub or wring it out, but gently squeeze the water out after hand washing. After washing, it is advisable to carefully pull the garment back into shape. Do not tumble dry. Put the item of clothing on a towel on the drying rack and let it dry slowly.

Footwear

Under no circumstances should shoes be put in the washing machine or dryer.
